                  Key Details

We are doing the Salkantay Trail.  This trail is very scenic. It is also less strenuous than the Inca Trail.  That said, you should be in decent walking shape.

The trek starts at 5:30 am local time on June 13th.  We recommend you arrive in Lima, Peru by June 11th, so that you can fly to Cusco, Peru on the 12th, and have time to relax and climatize prior to starting the journey.  We will be back in Cusco by 10:30 pm on the 17th.  We recommend the earliest departure from Lima on the 18th, but you will need to allow for the one hour flight from Cusco to Lima.

The trek itself starts on the 13th and ends on the 17th.  We will be staying in tents for the first three nights.  On the fourth night of the trek, we will stay at a mid priced hotel.

Price includes all the food and accomodations during the trek, accodations in Lima for the night of the 11th and Cusco for the nights of the 12th and the night of the 17th.  The airfare between Lima and Cusco is also covered, but we will need you to provide us with your flight details into Lima so we can arrange for transportation to the hotel in Lima.  We will also arrange transportation to the airport for our flight to Cusco. Use the contact us page or email us at info@adventuresnleadership.com. It also includes the guides, the porters who will carry the equipment, and transfer to and from Cusco airport. There will also be a medic with the group.

What to bring:

Swim gear for the thermal baths (day 3); Appropriate personal climbing gear (shoes, backpacks to carry changes of clothes, warm layers, hat).

We will be traversing through snow capped mountains as well as warmer low lands. This is also the coolest time of the year. Since we will be moving, we recommend layers - a hard outer shell, a liner to wear underneath, and polypro closest to your skin.  Also, you will need a hat.  The temperatures range from 34 degrees to 74 degrees in June. Vaccines: none are required for this trip. If, however, you choose to extend your stay in Peru and check out some of the lowland rain forest regions, you will need the yellow fever shot. If you are following our trip itinerary, you do not need it. You should prepare yourself with some altitude medicine.  Here is some information: http://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-6753/diamox-oral/details
